Introduction

Do you love the granny stitch? You came to the right place!

The very first thing I ever learned to crochet was a granny square. My mom taught me when I was very young and that was the only thing I knew how to crochet for years.

I remember seeing my best friend’s sister crocheting a blanket in all single crochet stitches (and with worsted weight yarn, who does that?! lol) and my mind was blown because I had only ever used double crochet stitches, slip stitches, and chain stitches up to that point.

The classic crochet granny stitch is very simple using only basic crochet stitches. It’s traditionally 3-dc clusters with 1 or 2 chain stitches separating them. You’ll also see altered versions with 2-dc clusters, hdc clusters, v-stitches, and more.

You can start center out with a magic circle, work flat granny rows, or work a corner to corner version. No matter which way you work the granny stitch, it always creates a beautiful and interesting design.

From traditional granny squares to baby blankets to cozy sweaters, there’s a crochet project here for every skill level.
