The Even Berry Stitch is a new one to me and I love how easy it is and the beautiful texture it creates. See the Stitch Index section below for a written description of how this stitch is worked. The inspiration for the name of this modern crochet baby blanket came from the Even Berry Stitch and the Neapolitan color scheme. The Berry Sweet Baby Blanket seemed like a perfect name! Yarn I used Yarn Bee Breathe Deep in Ivory, Mauve, and Brown Sugar. I actually found these on clearance at my local Hobby Lobby for $1 each! I love how buttery soft and smooth this yarn is. It’s very easy on the hands and works up beautifully. Although this yarn isn’t available for purchase anymore, below are some similar yarns I would recommend for this project. Tall Crochet Stitches: Beyond the Treble Crochet https://www.yarnique.com/2024/05/25/tall-crochet-stitches/ Sat, 25 May 2024 12:30:00 +0000 https://www.yarnique.com/?p=4494 Have you ever seen extra tall crochet stitches and wondered how to make them or even better, when to use them? Today is all about those taller crochet stitches! We’re going to go beyond the basics of single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches, double crochet stitches, and treble (triple) crochet stitches. Ready to move beyond basic stitches? Keep reading! What are Tall Crochet Stitches? Tall crochet stitches include stitches beyond the treble or triple crochet stitch. With a treble stitch, you begin by yarning over twice to create the stitch. With the taller stitches, you’ll yarn over more times to create an even taller stitch. These really tall stitches may not be for everyone. If this is your first time using them, they can be a little finicky as far as tension goes so they usually take a little practice to get right. If you’re new to tall crochet stitches, I recommend practicing with a swatch like in the sample photo before attempting these stitches in crochet patterns.  When do I Use Tall Crochet Stitches? Just like every stitch out there, there’s a right time and right place for them all. Tall crochet stitches can be used for a variety of crochet projects and are a great option as an alternative to using slip stitches to get where you want to be in your work.  Lace patterns are a popular type of design to use these taller stitches. Tall crochet stitches in junction with a specific number of chains along with some other techniques can create a beautiful lacy design. This crochet garment pattern only uses stitches as tall as a double crochet and is a good example of using stitches in different ways to create a lacy texture. I personally love using these large stitches when creating mesh fabrics. The taller crochet stitches are the perfect way to end a row seamlessly when creating mesh with larger holes. The stitch height needed can depend on your foundation chain, the number of stitches being used, and the starting chain or turning chain. Ready to practice some tall crochet stitches with a free crochet pattern? Check out these designs that use a variety of the tall crochet stitches discussed in this post: Now that we’ve discussed what they are and when to use them, here’s a quick guide on how to create these tall crochet stitches and the crochet abbreviations for them.
